Diorama : Bugatti 64 Portes Papillons / Gull Wings

En 1939 Bugatti a étudié un prototype pour remplacer la 57: la Bugatti 64. Jean le fils d'Ettore était en charge du projet. 3 chassis ont été fabriqués : L'un avec une carrosserie noire et des portes normales qui existe toujours, on peut le voir au musée de Mulhouse, un autre,beige, avec des portes papillons, solution qui n'a pas été retenue soit pour des raisons techniques soit par refus du patron Ettore. C'est celui de ce diorama. Le 3eme chassis n'a pas reçu de carrosserie. Il est, je crois, en cours d'être terminé au musée  Mullin en Californie avec une carrosserie a porte papillon différente de l'originale.

Le projet 64 en est resté la pour 2 raisons majeurs: le décès de Jean Bugatti dans un accident en testant une 57 de compétition et par le début de la 2eme guerre mondiale.

Le kit vient de chez VROOM, les personnages de chez JADE, l'outillage est de ESTES avec quelques NOREV, le montage du kit et du diorama est mon travail.

In 1939 Bugatti started working on a prototype to replace the 57 called the Bugatti 64.  Jean, Ettore's son, was in charge of the project. 3 chassis were made: one with a black body and regular doors. It still exists and can be seen at the Mulhouse Museum in Alsace. Another one had a beige body with gull wings doors. This design was abandoned probably  for technical reasons or maybe by refusal  from the boss, Ettore.  This is the one in this diorama . The 3rd one never received a body. It's in the process to be finished at the Mullin Museum in California with a gull wings body somewhat different from the original. The death of Jean Bugatti while testing a racing version of the 57 and  the beginning of World War II killed the 64 project.

The kit is a VROOM, the figurines are from JADE, the tools  by ESTES with some NOREV,
